Jean Paul Gaultier decided to do a tribute to remember Amy Winehouse and her style during his S/S runway show this week. Many of the fashion pieces seen on the runway were inspired by Amy's style as well as the hair and makeup. Gaultier himself said
“She was an icon of fashion and truly, the sense of how she mixed the clothes — it was great,” I think it was a really cool idea and was a great tribute. However, Amy's own father is not happy with the runway show and told The Sun that
“We’re still grieving for her loss, and we’ve had a difficult week with the six-month anniversary of Amy’s death. To see her image lifted wholesale to sell clothes was a wrench we were not expecting, or consulted on. It portrays a view of Amy when she was not at her best, and glamorizes some of the more upsetting times in her life,” Now, it probably would have been a good idea to get the okay before doing the show, but I don't think this was some sort of gimmick to make more money; simply a tribute to Amy and her style. I think it was tastefully done and the models and pieces look great.
